November 2016 Film Release Bracket

November is an extremely exciting month for me and it should be for you guys too! This is when we start getting potential Oscar nominees almost every weekend and I really do think that this fall's slate of movies is very strong. Unfortunately, we won't get Star Wars: Rogue One until December but there's plenty coming this month to keep us busy while we wait. There are a lot of films I want to see this month and they are both varied in scope and genre. So... some of these matches may seem a little weird but I feel like I did the best with what I had. First up is Allied vs. Arrival. I have to admit that I am not a huge sci-fi guy but Denis Villeneuve's Sicario was pretty powerful and I feel that this film could be that too. It could give us a taste of what his new Blade Runner will be like. Next, is Manchester by the Sea vs. Lion. Manchester by the Sea has been getting such good buzz at various film festivals that I can't help but be curious to see it. Lion follows and adopted man in Australia trying to find his parents and I just love that place so much. I think both could be really emotionally powerful films and those are always the movies that resonate with me. Bleed for This and Edge of Seventeen are two movies I got hyped for after their trailer releases. An underdog story is always inspiring and Edge of Seventeen looks like it could be really funny and a good time. Nocturnal Animals made the list because it looks like a huge thriller that could be a complete mind twister. Hacksaw Ridge, Fantastic Beasts, and Doctor Strange are the major big-budget releases I can't wait to experience. Who doesn't want to revisit the Harry Potter world? Doctor Strange could be a really different take on the superhero genre with amazing visuals. To be honest, I am getting tired of all the Marvel and DC films so I'm hoping this grabs me back in. Finally, Hacksaw Ridge is based on such an interesting true-story and looks so incredibly powerful. Say what you want about him but Mel Gibson is a great director. Well... that's November guys! Hopefully I get to all these films and maybe I'll even get a chance to see some that were not on this list. Look for the winners and losers throughout the month and look forward to reviews for all these movies coming soon.
