Top Movies of 2016
I didn’t want to have a set number of films I was going to put on my top of 2016 list. I decided to only include the films that I felt really stuck with me this year. Whether that ended up being 3 movies or 15 movies it didn’t matter. It turned out to be 6 this time around.
1.) Sing Street
Since I didn’t write a review for it all I want to say is that this is an amazing movie and it got completely robbed by the Academy Award nominations. I didn’t expect it to get much since it wasn’t being talked about enough leading up to awards season but I can’t believe it didn’t get at least one nomination for best original song. I know a lot of people look for movies that offer a new spin on something and instead, this is a traditional coming of a age story. I didn’t care about that at all since it’s done so well. I think I’ve already rewatched it 4 times on Netflix. It’s so good!
2.) Arrival
3.) Lion
4.) Everybody Wants Some
I didn’t write a review for this one either but this is another endlessly rewatchable film. The dialogue is extremely strong and the movie makes college look like the best thing ever. It’s a really fun story.
5.) Eddie The Eagle
6.) Silence
