The Jurassic World sequel has officially gotten its new title and in the summer of 2018 Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be hitting theaters. Before I give my quick thoughts on this title, let’s talk about the first Jurassic World. I really really disliked that movie. In the same year, I feel like we got both a strong reboot to a franchise and very weak return to a franchise. I’m talking about The Force Awakens and Jurassic World respectively. However, this title does give me a little bit of hope. The first image for the film was released at the beginning of the year and even if it didn’t show much, it was a cool initial glimpse. I’m hoping that Fallen Kingdom suggests that they are going to go a completely different route with this movie without any park. You can only do a dinosaur amusement park so many times before it gets to feel old. Maybe this story is going to explore the after effects of Jurassic World and tacklequestions of scientific ambition and whether or not to give up on it. They could possibly go the route which was hinted at in Jurassic World in which some people want to use the dinosaurs as weapons while others want to protect their rights as animals. Whatever they do, Fallen Kingdom hints that they are taking a different approach with this story. Also, I’ve liked director J. A. Bayona's other projects and he makes very grounded and meaningful movies, which is what I thought the first one was missing. I guess we’ll find out as more and more information gets released and the movie comes out next summer.
